Green Phase
This phase will have strict adherence to health and safety guidelines. The first few weeks of school will focus on:
- Health/safety procedures (social distancing, mask-wearing, hand-washing, and traffic patterns)
- Digital instruction procedures in preparation for the possibility of distance learning (logging in, completing and submitting work electronically),
- Getting to know students and assessing their social-emotional needs. We will introduce our new Friendzy SEL Program.
- All desks will face the same direction.
- Desks will be spaced out as much as physically possible. Students (K-8) will wear masks in classrooms when 6 feet of distancing cannot be physically maintained.
- Masks will be worn in all common areas of school.
- Hand sanitizing dispensers will be available in each classroom and office space.
- Students will be allowed and encouraged to wash hands as often as possible.
- Classroom surfaces will be cleaned with disinfecting wipes at least twice a day.
- Restrooms will be cleaned at least twice a day and once in the evening.
- Lunches will be organized in classrooms or in cafeterias where space allows for socializing with 6-foot distancing.
- Cohorts are based on grades or homerooms.
- Students will remain in their homeroom cohort as much as possible.
- Special teachers (i.e., Spanish, Library, Art, Music) will travel to classrooms.
- Students will be able to go to the library to check out books, upon their return, the books will be sanitized using the UV wands and will remain off the shelf for a week before going back into circulation.
- Physical Education will take place outside when possible; otherwise students will be in the gym with social distancing emphasized.
- Music will be based on rhythm and theory, any communal singing will have students 12 feet apart.
- Future Musicians Inc. (FMI) will hold lessons according to grades to keep them in their cohorts. All but percussion will be placed 12 feet apart. FMI will hand out their protocols when school begins.
- Cohorts will recess together and have their own recess toys.
- School Masses will talk place in the gym with only two to four cohorts (a lower grade with their Guardian Angels) spaced 6 feet apart. The rest of the school will have the Mass live-streamed into their classrooms. Father Melnick will go to individual classrooms to distribute the Blessed Sacrament.
- Middle School students will move between classes in a scheduled format to limit the number of students in stairways and hallways. Desktops and chairs will be sanitized after each class.
