Third Grade Saint Gabriel School

Third grade is a pivotal year. We are gearing up for the Iowa exams in the spring. Therefore, we will be concentrating on reading comprehension, the writing process, spelling, word identification, phonics, number sense, numeration, mathematical operations, fractions, decimals, measurement, time, estimation, geometry, graphs and basic algebra. Social Studies, Science, Cursive Writing, Religion and Health will also be taught.

Forty miuntes per week will be allotted for each of the following specials:Art, Gym, Music & Chorus, and Computer Science.

Third Grade Goals:

To leave third grade knowing that questioning is the key to learning
To leave third grade with pride and the sense of great accomplishment
To leave third grade with a thirst for reading and writing
To leave third grade with the understanding that knowledge is power
To leave third grade understanding that learning surrounds us everyday, in all that we do
To leave third grade with a greater understanding of people and the world we live in
To leave third grade with a love for God and the Knowledge that anyone can change the world for the better
