Religion is a daily class that focuses on the study of the Old Testament and connects to the stories of the New Testament.
Class begins with a daily prayer and intentions led by the weekly student prayer leaders.
Social Studies

Grade Six Social Studies will have students focusing on the ancient civilizations of Islam/Middle Ages, Egypt, Rome, Greece, China, Mesopotamia and India. Students will be expected to learn geographic and historical concepts as they apply to ancient civilizations. Special emphasis will be placed on map interpretation and critical thinking skills.

The 6th grade language arts program: This program covers: Reading (one of two sections), writing, grammar, spelling, vocabulary. The program follows Archdiocesan curriculum as well as State of Connecticut guidelines.
Oral presentation skills will also be emphasized including dramatic and poetic projects.
Writing skills will be emphasized, and geared toward the student's strengths and weaknesses, with a focus on process writing.
All will be provided within the context of a nurturing Christian environment.

The sixth grade studies Earth Science, which includes the Structure of Earth, Platr Tectonics, Geological features, Atmosphere and weather, Astronomy and Oceans.

Spanish meets four times per week in Grade 6. It includes an introduction to basic vocabulary and the creation of simple sentences.Health
Health classes meet once a week. The curriculum includes the three basic areas of
Health that focus on Mental/Emotional Health, Social Health, and Physical Health.
Students are given the opportunity to discuss how these areas relate to everyday life
through readings and class discussions. Assessment occurs with class participation,
homework, quizzes and tests.

Vocabulary Workshop @2005 Baseal Reader is used to introduce students to the oral tradition; myths, fables, legends. Students then create their own origianl folk tales, including illustrations. Plays read include the Odyssey. Novels read during the year are: THe Incredible Journey, Call it Courage, My Brother Sam is Dead (all novels subject to change). Vocabulary focus is on expanding students' vocabulary; synonyms. antonyms, and vocabulary in context.
