Fourth Grade Saint Gabriel School

The fourth grade curriculum includes the following: Religion/Family Life, Reading, Mathematics, Social Studies, Science, Art, Gym, Music & Chorus, and Computer Science.

The following is a list of the subject areas studies in fourth grade:

    Social Studies:

    1. Geography
    2. Regions of the U.S.A
    3. Research Reports

    Reading:

    1. Mastering skills to build accuracy and fluency
    2. Comprehension strategies to build independence
    3. Exposure and appreciation for all genres
    4. Responding to literature on a personal level

    Writing: Students will learn to express themselves through step-by-step instruction in expository, narrative, and poetry form.

    Math:

    1. Problem solving and reasoning skills
    2. Extend addition and subtraction
    3. Multiplication
    4. Division
    5. Fractions
    6. Decimals
    7. Measurements (metric and customary)
    8. Geometry
    9. Introduction to algebraic expressions and equations

    Religion:

    1. Focus is on Christian morality and building the character of the students.
    2. Emphasis on having a relationship with God and responsibility to the community.
    3. Family Life Program

    Daily Practice and Instruction in the following areas:

    1. Spelling
    2. Phonics
    3. Grammar
    4. Handwriting

    Science: Four days a week to science teacher. Classes are focused in General Science, which includes areas in the study of Matter, Electricity, Sound, Light, Weather, Animals, and Ecosystems.
