School's Curriculum

The curriculm is based on total instructional time of 1,615 minutes for grades 1-5. And 1,650 intructional time for grades 6-8.

A typical school day is broken down to no fewer than 6 1/4 hours with no fewer than 5 1/3 hours devoted to instruction.

Requirements for all grades:
  1. Religion is taught in every grade.
  2. Family Life is taught throughout the year in every grade.
  3. The Library period is part of the allotted time for Language Arts/Reading.
  4. Writing instruction takes place across the curriculum.
  5. A foreign language (Spanish) is taught in six, seventh, and eighth grade.
The following subjects are taught in grades 1-5:

Religion, Math, Language Arts/Reading - includes: Library, English, Spelling, Penmanship, and Phonics Social Studies (Connecticut History is taught in the 5th grade in conjuction with Social Studies), Science/Health, Art, Music, Computer, Physical Education.

The following subjects are taught in grade 6:

Religion, Math, Language Arts/Reading - includes: Library - including Sustained Silent Reading English, Spelling, and Vocabulary, Social Studies - World History, Science/Health, Art, Music, Computer, Physical Education.
